ALDI is currently working on modernising and improving the organisation. ALDI also aims for sustainable growth: in recent years, many stores have been renovated and their interiors modified. “We are working together to promote the sustainable growth of our organisation. We have also opened new stores in the past few years. To continue improving and modernising our organisation, we are also optimising our logistical processes”, explains Piet Lautenbag, Managing Director.

The distribution centre in Drachten no longer fully complies with current requirements and there is also a lack of space. ALDI is moving to Groningen as there is enough space there to build a new, larger, sustainable distribution centre. Groningen is also more centrally located. The distribution centre serves the sixty ALDI branches in the northern Netherlands.

A synthetic roofing system was used for the ALDI distribution centre. This consists of a PE vapour barrier, 140 mm of PIR insulation and a single layer of FPO roofing.
